Apple Watch - The future is here

Wearable Technology at its best: meet Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo

Wearable technology is definitely the hottest trend of the year and smartwatches are at the very center of this trend. Samsung put out two new models this year after its first attempt, Galaxy Gear, in 2014.

The main and the most important difference between Galaxy Gear and the new 2015 models is that Samsung is using its own brand new operating system Tizen and letting Android go. The name Galaxy is disappearing along with Android and this probably is only the tip of the iceberg. Samsung will probably move all its mobile devices to the new operating system in the near future.

The two new Smart watches from Samsung are called Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. They both offer the basic smart watch feature that is keeping you constantly updated with your smart phone without having to take it out of your bag or pocket. However Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo do far more than just that. Let’s have a look at what you can do with the latest wearable technology from Samsung.

Your new well being a partner

Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo both have built in pedometers, heart rate sensors, gyroscopes, and accelerometers. This is a pretty cool feature and more accurate than an app on your phone since the watch will be on your wrist at all times. With this feature, you can track your daily running, walking, cycling in steps, km or calories and even track sleep cycles and stress levels. You can easily sync these data with an app on your phone and start your own well being program.

Music to your ears:

These new smartwatches come with 4 GB space to store your music and can connect to a Bluetooth headset. This allows you to listen to music while you work out, without having to carry your phone around.

Lost your remote? Never mind

Along with many useful apps that work on Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo, there’s one app that will make your day. This app allows you to use your watch as a remote control for your TV meaning you’ll never have to look for that remote ever again.

Cutting edge design with customizable straps

Both watches come with a 1.63-inch AMOLED screen with a resolution of 320 x 320. Although the design resembles that of the original Galaxy Gear, it has lots of themes you can choose from. Therefore, you can transform the screen to something completely different from the default one. Plus the straps can be changed on these new models and that means you are not stuck with the 3 colors Samsung provides you with. You can choose a leather or silicone strap and change your theme anytime to create a completely different watch that matches the look.

Take a selfie

The Gear 2 has a built-in 2 MP camera, which takes a decent picture. This feature lets you take pictures even when your phone is not present and allows you to pretend you’re a spy. Gear 2 Neo does not have a camera, which explains the difference in price.

Although Gear 2 Neo is slightly lighter in weight and in price, both watches are much more advanced than their former model Galaxy Gear. The new built-in features take these watches further than just being a peripheral device for answering texts or monitoring calls. With these amazing new features we, can easily dream where wearable tech is going to be in the future.
